Klay Alexander Thompson is an American professional basketball player who was born on February 8, 1990, in Los Angeles, United States of America.

Klay represents the Golden State Warriors of the National Basketball Association (NBA). As a freshman for Tony Bennett at Washington State University, Thompson started each of the 33 games and led his team in 3-point field goal percentage and free throw % while averaging 12.5 points per game. He was selected for the Collegehoops.net All-Freshman Honorable Mention Team and the Pac-10 All-Freshman Team.

After his junior season, Thompson declared for the 2011 NBA draft, and the Golden State Warriors picked him as the 11th overall pick.

The Warriors were rumoured to trade starter Monta Ellis when this guard was selected, but that didn’t happen until March 2012. Thompson’s shooting prowess was commended by Warriors general manager Larry Riley, who also expressed optimism that Thompson’s defensive abilities will improve under new coach Mark Jackson.

Thompson is an outstanding free-throw shooter in addition to being a prolific and effective shooter, particularly from distance. It has been said that he shoots with “textbook” and “picture-perfect” forms.

The 32-year-old NBA player is primarily a catch-and-shoot player who uses back-cuts and screens created by teammates to create space for his incredibly accurate quick-release jumper, even though he is capable of handling the ball in the Warriors’ offence.

On December 13, Thompson reached the milestone of 2,000 career 3-pointers made, moving up to place 13 in NBA history. On December 30, Thompson scored 31 points in a 118-112 victory over the Portland Trailblazers thanks to a crucial 3-pointer he made with 1:36 remaining in the contest.

When Thompson competed for the United States, he was a part of teams that won gold at the 2016 Summer Olympics and the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup. On the 2009 FIBA Under-19 World Championship Under-19 national team, he also captured the gold.
