Following the directive from the President, Nana Akufo-Addo, banning all social gatherings due to the coronavirus outbreak, a lot of events have been suspended.
Latest to release a statement to this effect is Charterhouse Ghana, organisers of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
The statement signed by Robert Klah, Head, Public Events & Communications Charterhouse says the nominees’ jam of the awards originally scheduled for Koforidua, April 4 has been postponed until further notice.
Kofi Kinaata reacting to the VGMAs suspension in an interview with Amansan Krakye said;
“Social gatherings are now dangerous to our health and safety. I’m not sure Grammys and some big awards and events will proceed if the disease persists, even EPL has been suspended.
Human life is more valuable than anything else so if the Covid 19 doesn’t end soon then it won’t make sense to go ahead with the VGMA, I won’t even perform if I’m billed to do so”.
