Legendary Philadelphia disc jockey Jerry Blavat dies at 82

Legendary disc jockey Jerry Blavet also known as “The Geator with the Heater” and “The Boss with the Hot Sauce” has passed on at age 82.

According to reports, Jerry Blavat died on Friday at 3;45 A.M at Hospice at Jefferson-Methodist Hospital after suffering from the effects of myasthenia gravis and other related health issues.

Jerry Blavat reportedly left behind four daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his longtime partner Keely Stahl.

Before his demise, Jerry Blavat was reportedly suffering health issues relating to a shoulder injury which made him postpone an upcoming show at the Kimmel Cultural Campus due to his health.

Jerry Blavet also called “The Geator” was widely known as one of the early rock-and-roll DJs who revolutionized the profession and developed the “oldies” format.

Jerry Blavet has appeared in a series of television shows and films including “The Monkees,” “Desperately Seeking Susan,” “Baby, It’s You” and “Cookie.”
