Maccasio’s hit song, ‘Dagomba Girl’ beat songs from Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale, Samini, Ak Songstress to emerge the Reggae/Dancehall Song of the Year at the Ghana Music Awards UK held over the weekend.
The pride of the North scooped the award from Shatta Wale (Thunder Fire), Stonebwoy (Top Skanka), AK Songstress (Slow it Down), Samini (Obaa) and Akiyana(Nobody Bad).
Maccasio, who often is hailed as one of the biggest artists from the North and the whole country in general, took the honours after working incredibly hard under the year in review.
Born Sherif Abdul Majeed, Maccasio is noted for his flawless delivery in his indigenous language as he blends it seamlessly with English to transmit his message to the masses and it’s no wonder he has become one of the biggest proponent of songs from the Northern part of Ghana.

As an award scheme, the GMAUK recognises the hard work of our veteran musicians who have contributed immensely to the development of the arts over the past years, and for reasons are not active in the filled of work to compete and are referred to as the veterans.
Maccassio is known for songs like ‘Make Am ft Shatta Wale, Chairman, Work ft Kofi Kinaata and several others.
