A market woman has explained the reason for price hikes on food stuffs ahead of partial lock down.
Nana Akufo Addo on Friday evening announced a two week partial lock down which would take effect from 1:00am on Monday, 30th March, 2020.
In spite of this, people started preparing by stocking their homes with food stuffs that can take them through the 2 weeks partial lock down.
Upon reaching the market, it was obvious prices of food stuffs had increased to two or three times the normal price.
Buyers complained about the hike in prices but had no option than to patronize the goods for consumption.
A market woman revealed the reason for the price hikes during an interview with GHOne TV.
According to her, it is not their fault or they haven’t intentionally increased the prices but because they are not getting goods from suppliers so the few that come are expensive and they also have to add their profit to it before selling hence the increase in prices of food stuffs.
