On April 24, 1978, Matthew Nagy was born in Dunellen, New Jersey, and spent his early years in Piscataway.
When he was three years old, his parents Gail Stouch and Bill Nagy got divorced, and Matt then relocated with Stouch from Piscataway to Manheim, Pennsylvania.
When Nagy was younger, he played football and other sports, and his teammates remarked on his fierce competition.
For Manheim Central High School in Pennsylvania, he participated in basketball and high school football.
During his junior year, he started as quarterback for the former sport.
He guided the Barons to the Class AAA semifinals of the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) playoffs in 1994, when they lost to the Berwick Bulldogs.
Matt Nagy teams coached are quite a lot, but before he started coaching, he had been playing in the NFL, rising through the ranks from a collegiate player to a professional player.
Schools like Syracuse and Wake Forest gave him considerable consideration, but they later changed their minds after signing other quarterbacks.
Instead, he received scholarships from Delaware and New Hampshire in the Division I-AA, the former after watching James Madison play them in a 1995 game.
Nagy verbally committed to Delaware despite Terry Shea at Rutgers also showing interest in recruiting him.

Nagy garnered interest from the New York Giants as a free agent after going undrafted in the 2001 NFL Draft, but that chance was eliminated when they signed Jesse Palmer. That must have been heartbreaking.
He did overcome that to play professionally for the likes of the New York Dragons, Carolina Cobras, Georgia Force, and Columbus Destroyers.
Once his playing career ended haven played six seasons, and recorded over 18,000 passing yards, 374 touchdowns throws, 55 interceptions, and 22 rushing touchdowns, he thought it would be good to intern to be a coach.

Nagy made a comeback to Manheim Central High School in 2001 as the quarterbacks coach.
His wife, Stacey, was the girls’ track coach at Cedar Crest High School in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, therefore he was asked to take on the same role there the following year.
Nagy was in charge of the junior varsity football team in addition to the varsity squad.
Till 2003, he was employed at Cedar Crest.
In the 2008 NFL offseason, Nagy interned with the Philadelphia Eagles before taking a position as offensive coordinator at Palmyra Area High School in Palmyra, Pennsylvania.
In his debut season, the Cougars finished 5-5.
He remained with the team through 2009, when they finished 4-6, before leaving to take a full-time position in the NFL.
