Amakye & Dede Has Broken All Time Silver Bird Premiere Records.

On the 26th of March, 2016, the Accra mall and West hills mall Silver birds cinemas were jam-packed all because a movie titled “Amakye & Dede” was premiering that day and everyone was extremely anxious to watch the movie.

I am a movie fanatic and I must be honest, when I got to the scene, which is the West Hills mall, I was extremely overwhelmed to see so many people at the corridors of the Silver Bird Cinemas.

As a blogger, I needed to get some pictures and videos to use as content for Ghbase.com so I made my way through the thick crowd and entered the Enda restaurant to set my cameras and lighting ready to take pictures when the celebrities arrive.

After some few minutes, our celebrities finally came. ( they first went to the Accra Mall to take pictures with the fans)

I was dazzled as I saw the crowd rushing just to get a glimpse as the celebrities were ushered in by body guards and soldiers.

The whole of the corridors of the Silverbird Cinemas was full and the downstairs was also fully occupied. People screamed out the names  of their favorite celebrities as they were ushered in, with the flashlights from their phones aiding their cameras to capture such a moment.

I was pushed away several times and I even lost focus and at a point, I just stopped filming and taking pictures because I didn’t want to risk loosing my camera.  I have been to several movie premieres in this country and although I would admit some of them have been so successful, this very one as it stands now is the most successful movie premiere I have ever witnessed in Ghana.

Similar thing happened last year at the premiere of Kalybos in China and also ‘I Do” by Kafui Danku but this very movie, Amakye & Dede beats them all. Not even Yvonne Nelson’s “Single & Married” movie which also broke cinema records at that time could match up agains this one.

I wouldn’t want it to seem as tho I am exaggerating but anyone who was present at the premiere of Amakye & Dede would bear me witness.

Now, the Business Manager of Silverbird Cinemas, Justice Grant in an interview with Zionfelix, mentioned that, this movie is the biggest premiere they’ve ever witnessed so far.

“Even though I’m yet to check the numbers properly, per estimations and all that you could tell it is the biggest premiere ever at Accra Mall and West Hills Mall” Justice Grant said.

“ The producer has beaten his own records because it was Kalybos In China and that movie was from same producer of Amakye & Dede”

Unfortunately, Silverbirds wouldn’t want to disclose to the media how much the movie made in the box office. It’s sad such figures are not disclosed, so we could measure it against other premieres, so we have a more factual track record.

I have learned, the reason such figures are not disclosed is that, some movie premieres record very abysmal sales, so it would be bad to disclose how much each movie makes at it’s major premieres.

Ghbase.com would try in as much as possible and bring you how much the movie made. We are hoping, Kofi Asamoah, the producer would disclose that, since he did so last year when Kalybos in China was premiered.
