Ghana’s President Nana Akufo Addo has intended to immortalized the name of George Floyd into the history archives in Ghana permanently at the Diaspora African Forum and the W. E. B. Du Bois Centre in Accra.

George Floyd died in Minneapolis on May 25, 2020, after a white police officer held a knee on his neck for nearly nine minutes, his final moments filmed on phones. Four police officers involved have been sacked and charged over his death.

The government of Ghana had earlier held a Memorial Service for the deceased in Ghana, the video of which was broadcast to thousands of mourners who attended a memorial to pay their last respects to the late Floyd in the United States last Thursday.
