In a new joint press statement from the Ghana Police Service and the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), they have stated that Nana Appiah Mensah would appear before a Dubai court on February 2.
Nana Appiah Mensah, who is the CEO of the troubled gold trading hub, Menzgold was reported to have been arrested in Dubai in December 2018 over some gold deal gone.
A delegation was then sent to go negotiate on diplomatic terms for the release of Nana Appiah as the country does not have an extradition arrangement with the UAE.
Ghanaians have been waiting for him to return to the country since Wednesday but it seems, we would have to wait for some more time and see what becomes of his situation as a new press release from the Ghana Police service and EOCO is telling a different story.
The third point in the release reads:
3. It is the understanding of the Ghanaian delegation that, Nana Appiah Mensah faces misdemeanor charges in the UAE and will be made available to Ghana upon the final determination of his current matter in the UAE. His case is next due for court on Feb 2, 2019.
