A rather bizarre spectacle was recorded yesterday, May 13, 2020. In a viral circular that surfaced on social media, the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) ‘commanded’ all pubs, drinking bars and hotels to start operating while maintaining social distancing protocol.
However, a few hours later, the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture moved swiftly to cancel the earlier directive, maintaining that the ban on the hospitality industry has still not been lifted and urged the public to disregard the circular the GTA issued.
The directive signed by the sector minister, Barbara Oteng-Gyasi urged the public to note that the circular from the Ministry supersedes the one issued by the Ghana Tourism Authority, the industry regulator.
