The news about how six suspects masterminded the plan to escape from the Sandema cells in the North East Region by overpowering a police guard is more or less like a fascinating fiction story.

The suspects who were all being kept in one of the three cells at the station allegedly escaped last Saturday despite being under police guard.

One of the escapees was however re-arrested moments after the incident.

Public Relations Officer of the Upper East Police Command, ASP David Fianko Okyere in an interaction with the media thrw=ew his arms up in the air as he recounts how the suspects bolted.

“We were able to capture one of them, few hours after the incident. So we are doing everything possible so that we recapture all of them in the shortest possible time.”

“Internal procedures have been initiated to investigate the complicity of police officers who were guarding the prisoners. The police officers will have to explain to the administration what exactly happened and the necessary action will be taken”, he added.

Meanwhile, the general public is however been urged to volunteer information to arrest the other inmates on the run.
