NDC’s Mahama Ayariga has explained why he believes people from the Northern part of Ghana have the slimmest of chances of leading the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
According to him, he believes based on this assertion, Vice President Bawumia might not be settled on to lead the party as flagbearer for the 2024 election.
Speaking on GhOne TV today, Mahama Ayariga said the NPP understands that Bawumia is not a credible candidate to lead the party since they believe the election will be lost if he is their presidential candidate.
He added that NPP choosing Bawumia gives the NDC an upperhand over them in the 2024 polls thus such a dicey decision will be highly reconsidered.
“NPP will be heading for a total political slaughter should Bawumia be selected as their flagbearer. One half of the country will come to the irrevocable conclusion that there’s no future for anyone from the North in the NPP,” Mahama Ayariga said.

Meanwhile, there are about four other individuals who have expressed public interest in leading the NPP in the 2024 polls after the tenure of the Akufo-Addo-led administration elapses.
Key amongst these candidates is Alan Kyeremanteng who appears as the preferred person to lead the NPP as their presidential candidate.
