The British professional boxer of Nigerian descent Anthony Joshua has ruthlessly defeated, Bulgarian Kubrat Pulev to retain his WBA, IBF and WBO titles.
There was so much at stake before the clash with Joshua’s three titles, WBA, IBF and WBO on the line; the war of words heightened matters between the two.
It was Anthony Joshua who came up tops, however, after dispatching Pulev in the ninth round of the encounter Saturday evening.
Pulev was able to survive two early drills to the canvas in round three but Joshua put his foot off the gas for a bit, giving him some respite but in the ninth round, the Bulgarian couldn’t stand the flurry of punches from Joshua as he dropped off to hand the British Boxer the win.
After his victory, Joshua took to social media to leave a message out there to his fans.
“We don’t have to prove anything to no one but ourselves”, he wrote on Facebook.
Antony Joshua’s stellar career has seen him defeat World Heavyweight Champions such as Charles Martin, Wladimir Klitschko, Joseph Parker, Alexander Povetkin and Andy Ruiz Jr.
His next challenge will likely be a fight with fellow Britishman, Tyson Luke Fury who has already sent word out to Joshua that he’s going to do to him what he did to Deontay Wilder.
Fury shared a video on Facebook in reaction to Joshua’s win over Pulev where he said he needed the fight with Joshua and that he was going to knock him out in three rounds and not the nine that he went with Kubrat Pulev.
