Change is the only constant thing in life and we can’t run away from it. There’s a saying that you can’t do the same things and expect different results so obviously if something isn’t going well, you have to change it.
There are times we also change things about us because we do not believe in them again or because our philosophy has changed. Similarly in our music industry, Ghana has witnessed a lot of musicians who changed their stage names along the line. Most have benefitted immensely whereas the very few couldn’t get the expected results as a result of many factors.
Now, the new Ghanaian act to add his name to the archives of musicians who have changed their stage names is rapper Opatuo. The rapper who happens to be one of the earlier proponents of Hiplife has laid down new strategies to revive his music career and build a better future for his craft.
In the wake of this, he has changed his name from Opatuo to “Abusua” after recruiting his younger brother, Cypher Khalifa, to become a music duo. According to him, this is one of the steps to re-brand his image and that his new name Abusua which is a music group is for the future.
“I am just re-branding after some years of using Opatuo. Abusua is for the future. I always say I feel like a new artiste because my desire for doing music feels the same as I started at age 10,” he told DJ Budah on New Mighty FM.
Opatuo now “Abusua” was part of the crew who made major appearances on Dr Duncan Kasahari show on Adom FM. Between 2008 – 2009, Opatuo was a force to reckon with whenever the likes of Sarkodie, Chameleon, Yaa Pono, Kofi Korea, Kofi Kodie, Guru, Bandana, Kesse of mentor fame, et al. come into contact with him on Dr Duncan’s Kasahari show.
He reiterated that Sarkodie was the only person who could match him whiles the likes of Guru, Kofi Korea, others were his small boys during Dr. Duncan’s Kalahari level segment. Opatuo who was sometime in the past called Chineseman sounded optimistic that he’s back to take the rap crown from the SarkCess Music CEO.
So, we do hope that the re-branding will yield the expecting results. Regardless when the host asked Opatuo now Abusua what he has in stock for the fans, he revealed that he’ll release a song shortly which is titled “Me Kakra”. He assured his fans to expect nothing but the very best of bangers henceforth.
