Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, the Minister of Communication, has stated that the government will not extend the current deadline for sim card registrations.
According to the minister, the directive to flush out all unregistered sims will be in full effect after the deadline passes by the end of July.
During the climax of the Ahafo Regional celebration of the Girls-in-ICT Initiative held at Acherensua in the Asutifi South District on the theme “Access and safety”, the minister said; “there is no way we are going to extend the deadline again.”
This is a warning to those who are reluctant in registering their SIM cards which has been made mandatory by the Communications Ministry.
She stated that SIM card registration was necessary because it would considerably aid the country’s efforts to combat increasingly sophisticated internet and cybercrime.
