Former Ghanaian player, Junior Agogo died on Thursday, August 22 after battling with stroke for a very long time.
Junior Agogo was born in Ghana but spent most of his childhood in the UK. He moved back to Ghana during his years in secondary school. He began his youth career at Sheffield Wednesday in 1995, moving up to the senior squad in 1997.
He’s fondly remembered for his great performances for the Black Stars during the 2008 Nations Cup on home soil when he scored a last minute goal for Ghana against Nigeria in the quarter finals.
Several Ghanaian players and other football fans have sent in their tributes to him and we have sighted one from Ghanaian gospel musician and pastor, Sonnie Badu.
My brother you are trending. Ghana is talking about you. You cried for help and when stroke hit, you wept on tv and said none of your team mates or GFA had come to see you.
If only they had shown you this love when you needed it perhaps you would have held on.
I will say this again! Ghana must learn how to celebrate their heros.
May God bless our homeland!
