The famous Takoradi Market which many have come to know as Takoradi Market Circle has finally gone down paving way for a new ultramodern market to be built.
For over years now, the discussion for the construction of a new market to replace the dilapidated one has been ongoing and the time to replace the old one has come at a time they needed it most.
The Takoradi Market Circle since its construction some 99 years ago has not seen any major rehabilitation and has developed several defects which caused the traders to raise several concerns.
The raising safety concerns for traders and the rest of the general public who transact business there every passing second was taken into account by the Akufo-Addo led government who on August 21, 2020, cut the sod for the construction of a new market at a cost of €48 million.
The project will be financed by an export credit from the Deutsche Bank S.p.
