Most veteran actors in Ghana rely on public aids in order to survive. This attitude beats the imagination of critical thinking Ghanaians taking into consideration all the money and fame that came the way of such actors at the peak of their careers.
Recall that veteran actor, Psalm Adjetefio who was at the peak of his career some two decades ago is now ‘begging’ for support. It is so unfortunate for such a veteran actor to be ‘begging’ for financial support any time he appears on TV for an interview but the question is; what actually happened to all the monies he reaped in his prime days?
Now, veteran actors Grace Omaboe popularly known as Maame Dokono has laid the blame for actors going broke right at their own feet. According to her, majority of them did not take good care of their finances when they were making good money and therefore they have no one to blame but themselves for their current predicament.
On the part of the male actors, she accused them of squandering the fortunes they made in their acting careers, mostly on women (pu$$y), alcohol and other pleasures.
The veteran actress commended the current generation of actors such as Lil Win and Agya Koo for securing their financial futures much better than her generation did.
To her credit, Maame Dokono recounted that she was able to establish other businesses to support her acting career, adding that she was also able to take care of her children through school and so is reaping the benefits.
