Stakeholders of Kumawood are lobbying for the Nana Akufo Addo led government to build a film village in Kumasi which we guess will be almost identical to Hollywood located in Los Angeles in the US.
On Wednesday, July 24 some of these Akan-speaking movie makers presented a petition to parliament for the government to rescind its earlier decision of building the Film Village at Kyebi in the Eastern Region.
They argued that the Ashanti Region was the hub of movie making and needs the film village more than the Eastern Region.
Speaking to Zylofon FM, movie producer Samuel Nyamekye said filmmakers would do movies to campaign against the government if their humble plea is turned down.
“We will do massive demonstrations if they fail to do it…It will be a failure on their part. Their stronghold is Kumasi and they are not fulfilling their promises. We will shoot series upon series against them not just movies,” he stated.
