Gary Green is a Texas man known to have fatally stabbed his wife, Lovetta Armstead, and drowned his 6-year-old daughter, Jazzmen Montgomery, at their home in Oak Cliff on September 21, 2009. Who Was Gary Green?
Gary Green’s parents and childhood history remain unknown. He was married to Lovetta Armstead and had a daughter named Jazzmen Montgomery. After a few months of marriage, Lovetta left Gary, which enraged him, leading to him stabbing Lovetta and Jazzmen to death.
During court proceedings, Lovetta’s two children from a previous relationship testified that Gary forced them to watch the dead bodies of their mother and sister. Gary held them at knifepoint and even stabbed the younger brother in the abdomen. Although the children managed to persuade Gary not to kill them, he showed them the bodies and instructed them not to call the police until he was gone. The older son testified that Gary planned to take his own life.
Gary was sentenced in 2010 and was later executed by lethal injection on March 7, 2023, at the state penitentiary in Huntsville, despite his attorneys’ attempt to plead his mental illness as a mitigating factor.
