Lyudmila Aleksandrovna Ocheretnaya stated that she wasn’t separating from her former because of the speculations that Putin was in a relationship with someone else. According to her, the divorce process was in process before the rumor broke out.
Six years ago, Lyudmila reportedly married businessman Artur Ocheretny in 2016. He is 21 years younger than her.

During her marriage with Vladimir Putin, she used to teach German at the university from which she graduated, Leningrad State University. Her tenure of teaching carried on from 1990 to 1994.
After this tenure, she became a Moscow representative for Telecominvest, a telecom company.
She worked here from 1998 to 1999 and used to answer phone calls and organize meetings for the Moscow branch.
It was when Lyudmila was in Moscow before Vladimir Putin was appointed as Prime Minister of Russia in the year 1999.
She held the title of Russian First Lady from 7 May 2012 to 6 June 2013. While as First Lady, she contributed to several developments in Russia.
Lyudmila helped in creating and supporting the Centre for the Development of Inter-personal Communications (CDIC) foundation which raises huge funds.
Although she later rejected most of the work as “untimely”, this generated much controversy to her role to have such attempts left abashed.
